If you are installing the driver for multiple Brother machines, you have to uninstall all drivers of all Brother machines once and then install the necessary driver.
STEP 1:
In order to completely uninstall the Brother driver package the following files should be removed from the Extensions Folder.
The Extensions folder is located in the System Folder on the Hard Drive:
- TWAIN Source Manager
- Brother Interface Driver C
- Brother LUT
- Brother Ink (IP)
- There may be several of the USB Print Driver(BRXXX) and BR_PrintMonitor(BXX) extensions with different endings.
- The 'x' refer to the model of your machine.
STEP 2:
The following files should be removed from the Preferences folder.
The Preferences Folder is located in the System Folder on the Hard Drive.
- BRLUTCM.DAT
- brmfgray.bin
STEP 3:
The following files should be removed from the ColorSync Profiles folder. The ColorSync Profiles Folder is located in the System Folder on the Hard Drive.
Please note that there may be more than one ColorSync Profile listing for Brother.
- Brother xxx-xxxxx Scanner.icc
The 'x' refer to the model of your machine.
STEP 4:
The following file should be removed from the TWAIN Data Sources folder. The TWAIN Data Sources folder is located in the System Folder/Extensions folder on the Hard Drive.
- Brother TWAIN
Drag all these files to the trash and then restart the Mac.
Once the computer has restarted you can then dump the trash. Once removed you can run the installation of the updated driver package that should be downloaded from the Brother Solutions Center. Then restart the Mac. On restart printing and scanning should now be possible.

Case 1: An error message appears when I install the Full Software Package
- From the Apple menu, click System Preferences > Security & Privacy.
- In the General tab, make sure that App Store and identified developers under Allow apps downloaded from: is selected.
If it is not, select it after clicking Click the lock to make changes.
If you select the App Store option, the installer may not work correctly. - Try to download and install the file again.
Case 2: I cannot use the CD-ROM supplied with my Brother machine (not available in all countries)
Install the Brother software

Case 3: When installing the software, I am asked to type my password to install the software
Depending on how your Mac operating system was configured you may be required to enter the administrator password to install software or drivers.
